Do you remember the typewriter?
In 1953, Joe Cimino bought out the Royal Typewriter
branch in Schenectady, New York and renamed it “Eastern
Typewriter and Office Supply.”
Typewriters went by the wayside, but not Eastern
Typewriter and Office Supply. Joe Cimino had the insight
to know that office technology was rapidly changing and
he was going to bring his company into the future. This
foresight brought about the Cimino family selling not
only electric typewriters but also word processors,
plain paper copiers, fax machines and, of course,
computers. Eastern Office was so on the cutting edge of
office equipment, that they were awarded the Century
Club Award in 1986, 1987, and 1988. They became one of
the top dealers in the United States of Adler-Royal
products and one of the first computer dealerships in
the Capitol District.
Since 1988, Eastern Office has become a full line copier
and fax dealer, in addition to their product lines of
Adler-Royal, Sanyo, and their own white box desktop
computers. Once again, Eastern proved itself as a
reliable and progressive company with its eye on the
future. This eye has earned Eastern numerous accolades,
including a designation as a Sharp Platinum Dealer since
1994, and the Hyakuman-Kai Sales and Service Award,
placing Eastern in the top ten dealers for mid-market
businesses. In 2008, Eastern is still a Platinum Dealer
and has the only Bronze and Silver level service
technicians in national training events.
Eastern’s history doesn’t stop
there. In the 1980s, Phil Tiberio (Cimino’s
son-in-law) became the Business Technology Association
President.
This BTA has over 3,400 members, and Phil went on to be
elected National Director in 1991 and 1992 due to his
cutting edge work in the technology field. Because of
Phil, Eastern Office Supply and its owners were awarded
the Small Business Enterprise Award from the Schenectady
Chamber of Commerce. This award made Eastern the Small
Business of the Year. In 2001 and 2002, Eastern and its
owners were recognized in OFFICE PRODUCTS MAGAZINE for
their outstanding work in their community.
In keeping up with technology, the next generation of
the Tiberio family came to work at Eastern. Thomas, a
2007 graduate of SUNYA, put his talent for using
technology, specializing in the areas of computers,
networks, and audio visual. Once again, Eastern was on
the cutting edge of business technology.
In 2005, Eastern expanded their
product line, adding Panasonic copiers, MFP,
printers, scanners, whiteboards and faxes to their
product lineup.
In addition to their product expansion, Eastern was
designated as a National Service Center for Brother
Electronics, Fellowes Manufacturing (for the full line
of Shedders & Sharp), Panasonic and Brother copiers and
fax machines. Eastern had the foresight to add a sound
and sight lab to their showroom, building and selling
Media Center PCs with 5.1 sound systems.
Knowing that home theaters would be the next “big”
thing, Eastern now installs home theaters with custom
remote controls and large business installations.
They’ve installed systems from Plattsburgh to New York
City! If you are in the market for flat panel
technology, Eastern has it. They are authorized dealers
for Pioneer Plasma & Audio and NuVision flat panel
displays. As far as projector and screen solutions, once
again, Eastern can do it. They handle DaLite, Optoma,
Sharp and Elite systems.
Knowing that there was always room for expansion, in
2006, Eastern broke into the home wiring business with
structured cabling and home automation. They are now
certified and authorized to sell and install On-Q
Legrand structured wiring products and home automation
from HAI, an industry leader since 1985. Finding the
market for restaurant support systems, Eastern now
provides touch screen point of sale systems, CCTV,
background music, and flat panel installations.
Two more Tiberio family members came on board in 2006.
Lynn helps program and install the point of sale
systems. Michele is part of the office management team.
Between 2007 and 2008, Eastern saw a surge of audio
visual installations, and once again, felt the need to
expand. They have since added Control 4 Home Automation,
Sharp Aquos flat panel televisions and Universal Remote
control.
Not wanting to rest on its laurels, Eastern entered 2008
with the introduction of EOS Technologies. Today, EOS
Technologies is on the pulse of the business community,
and with the growth of the restaurant industry and the
home markets are keeping their installers busy every
day. EOS is a member of the RSPA, NYS Restaurant
Association and CompTIA.
What does this all mean for you? It means that longevity
and instinct has made EOS a company that is family-owned
and business savvy. It means dependability and the
assurance that EOS Technologies has you, the customer,
as their priority.
EOS is the Capital District leader in the latest
business and home technologies…
for
today and tomorrow.
